International Medical Graduates

International Medical Graduates (IMGs) are significant and valuable part of the NHS workforce. Up to 44% of psychiatric trainees graduated overseas (2021). Moving countries and starting work in the NHS, whilst exciting, can also be a challenging experience.

IMG trainees who start working on the North West London Psychiatry Training Programme are offered extended induction, access to a resources pack and ongoing personal support. Help and advice is also available for trainers who work with IMGs to support their development, networking and inclusion in all aspects of their training and the work of their services and Trusts.

Dr Bart Matras is a Consultant Liaison Psychiatrist and in 2021 was appointed as a CNWL IMG lead. 

Dr Ali Syed, General Adult Consultant Psychiatrist and Dr Santosh Mudholkar, Consultant Forensic Psychiatrist are the IMG Leads at West London NHS Trust and have a role in supporting IMG doctors at all levels of seniority.
